Presentation Secrets 1-Day Speaker Training: FINAL EVER Events

Hey there!

We had an email in the office today saying “I was looking for your Presentation Secrets events on your blog, but couldn’t see anything.” Well- that would be because I have (most slackly) not put anything here!

So here’s a quickie to let you know that we are coming up to our Final Ever Events of “Presentation Secrets“. This is our 1-day Jampacked introduction to how to make 6 or even 7-figures a year as a speaker.

I’m full of mixed emotions about this.

On the one hand I’m excited to be doing this for the last time, knowing that I have such big things in store for the future (including but not exclusive to starting a family!) But on the other hand I’m really sorry to be letting it go. These events have changed literally THOUSANDS of people’s lives (and bank accounts) over the last 3 years. And it seems so sad to be saying goodbye.

But- we have to let go of the old to make space for the new right?

The content, information and strategies I’ll be sharing at this event will be the most cutting edge you’ve seen when it comes to making big money from speaking. As I said- being the last time, ‘m making sure I make a big difference with this last hurrah!

Hope to see you in your capital city in March (Australia) or May (UK).

Are your self limiting beliefs holding you back?

I’m sure like me, you began the year busy planning what you are going to achieve in your business this year? I love the start of a new year, it’s a great time to refocus and start with a clear plate and visualize all the great stuff that we’re going to make happen.

Thursday 16th February 2012We’re now in February and hopefully you’re making steady progress and seeing some results from your efforts so far…or are those ideas that seemed to hold so much potential for you a month ago now looking like an impossible dream?

You see…although we might begin the year with the best of intentions, occasionally doubts start creeping in at some point.

  • Can I do this?
  • Am I good enough?
  • What if I fail?
  • Will people laugh at me?

And what happens is that the doubting voices in your head start to become louder that the encouraging and positive voices and before you know it, your confidence starts to drop.

Suddenly the success that you started the year working towards is slipping out of your reach and BANG – you don’t feel it is even worth trying anymore.

Does that sound like you? Have you ever found yourself starting off well but then gradually losing faith in yourself as time goes on?

Well if so, STOP!

I’m going to let you into a secret – those negative, doubting voices you can hear so loud and clear are lying to you!

Cute Smiling BabyYou see, as babies we arrive into the world capable of achieving everything we wish for. Then as we go through our lives, our inner thought processes begin to take shape. We make good and bad decisions, we learn lessons from the people around us and sometimes, we fail or make a bad choice.

The trouble is, these failures and bad choices can stick in your mind leaving you with a deep feeling of guilt or negative self beliefs and these thoughts are carried with you forever more.

You probably already know that we call these thoughts `self limiting beliefs’. And by choosing to continue carrying these thoughts in your mind you are limiting what you can achieve in future.

But guess what? You can choose whether to continue hurting yourself or whether to let go and return these limiting beliefs to the past where they belong.

So my invitation for you this week is to take five minutes for yourself, make yourself comfortable and think about your own self limiting beliefs that are holding you back.

Next I want you to imagine you are physically picking these negative thoughts up, and then scrunch them into a ball with your hands and throw them right the way back into the past! Visualize them flying through the air and leaving your mind so you are free forever.

Relax at WorkDoesn’t that feel great? It’s a really relieving feeling to visualize the doubts flying away from you and back into your past like that and it’s a process I repeat whenever I feel the doubts creeping into my mind. Now they’ve gone, you’re free to recommence your journey towards success!

So I’d love to hear from you what self limiting thoughts you said goodbye to and tell me what you’re going to be achieving this year now they’ve gone. Pop your thoughts into the comments box – I can’t wait to hear your story.

How you can find more time but get more done?

Nowadays life just seems to get busier and busier. Do you find that too? Back in the days before all the time saving appliances we enjoy were invented, everything had to be done the ‘long way’. Here we are with all the technology bur we’re overwhelmed and still wish we could find more time.

But you know, if we are not using our time effectively it doesn’t matter how many time saving devices we own – there’ll never be enough time…we must prioritize.

Prioritize your time
TimePareto’s Principles or the 80/20 rule is the key…you know the one where 20% of our clients bring in 80% of our turnover or 20% of our activities bring 80% of the results? We spend 80% of our day working on the things that contribute to 20% of our lifestyle goals and that’s what I want to talk about today.

It comes down to time management and this is something I’ve put a lot of focus on as I’ve created my ultimate lifestyle business, and I’m going to share some of the tricks that have really worked for me with my time management.

What do you want to find more time for? First of all, I invite you to think about what you’d like to achieve in the next three months…what are your lifestyle goals that you’d like to have in place in three months time?

  • Maybe increase your turnover? Let’s say by $10,000
  • See 40 clients a week maybe?
  • Perhaps you’d like to be working three days a week?

So my number one suggestion is that you decide what your goals are. Then think about how you’ll make these goals happen? What actions do you need to take to get the extra $10,000 turnover or be able to work a couple of days less each week?

TIP: Think about the one action that will bring results quickly?
For example if I wanted an additional $10,000 I’d probably host an event…a seminar to generate that extra revenue. I might think about creating an informational product sharing my knowledge and selling it online too? But the seminar will generate revenue quicker so I’d prioritise that one.

MILESTONES:
MilestonesYour milestones will be the general steps that need to happen by a specific time. So for my event, my milestones would be to source the venue, a PA system, send email invitations. I need to book the venue first, then the PA and so on. So you list out each of your milestones individually with the date they must be achieved by.

TO-DO
Now on the to do list you’ll have your specific tasks that need to happen within each milestone. For my venue sourcing milestone I would need to call around a few and I might need to go and visit my two favourites to check they are suitable.

You know, it is the actual tasks you need to make time for so I might allocate two hours to the phone calls and half a day for visiting…are you following me? Start with the most important and put them in first…including your lifestyle dates each week. Then decide when the rest will get done.

You’ll also have routine tasks that you need to take care of too…housework, taking the kids to school, appointments and making time for your family. These need to be scheduled into your to do lists as well…don’t forget your day to day life when you’re planning your big picture.

TIP:
TeamWhen you are considering the individual tasks, ask yourself if ‘you’ actually need to do them. Remember the 80/20 rule and decide which tasks can be delegated. If you are going to spend two hours calling venues that’s two hours you can’t spend on something else.

You can hire a VA to project manage your event and take care of the admin side of things and a Cleaner to come in a couple of times each week to take care of your housework. If you’re doing the school run every day is there another parent you can share this task with?

Once you find ways to free up time, it leaves you to focus on the stuff you’re good at. When your mind isn’t cluttered with routine you’ll have more energy and your business has space to grow without detracting from your ultimate lifestyle goals.

I hope I’ve been able to show you that your life doesn’t have to be full of clutter. I love my planning tools because they make sure I don’t forget anything important but also stop me from stressing the small stuff…I’m not overwhelmed but I have more time too and that’s amazing!

Success in business: Are you inviting the magic?

Isn’t the universe awesome?! I love how when you come up against a challenge or problem in your business and then bam! All of a sudden as if from nowhere the universe appears with the solution.

Are you feeling in flow with the universe right now too?

You know, when your business is connected to your heart and soul, when what you do is an extension of your personality and beliefs that’s when the magic starts to happen . . . if what you do in your business feels like an extension of you then you’re in your flow and your journey through life feels smoother – magic happens!

I heard a great example of this recently – I was chatting to a girlfriend who told me a story about someone she knows. Her friend had a business in Accountancy which she was well qualified for and had learned the relevant skills needed to serve her clients well – but she didn’t enjoy her business. Her focus was on making money but she never felt that she was aligned totally with what she did. She was well off financially but in her heart the business felt like work and each day was a struggle.

After a few years she lost interest in the business completely and consequently the income dried up because her heart wasn’t in it anymore. She took some time out and so at this point she was poor financially but emotionally rich. She had time to spend on reconnecting with herself and focusing on what she really wanted to do with her life.

After a year she set up another business but this time her business leveraged her passion – something she did every day anyway because she loved it so now she gets paid to work with clients sharing her passion.

But here is the best part – since her business became an extension of her soul lots of magic started to happen – dreams began to come true and opportunities presented themselves. She loves her business, her clients love what she does and everything just flows smoothly.

Does that sound like you? Are you in your flow?

How can you get into your flow if it isn’t happening for you right now?

Tune into your soul and ask yourself this question – is my business connected to my lifestyle goals? Am I doing what I truly love or what I think I should be doing?

If you’re not totally in tune with your business, everything you try to achieve will be a struggle.

Here are 3 of my top tips to help you get back into flow:

  • Get focused:

First thing in the morning when you wake up, take a pen and paper and write down what is in your mind at that time – don’t think about it or write what you believe you should be writing but just get your thoughts out of your mind and onto the pages. I wake up and straight away, I write three pages every day – this means that by the time I begin my day all the clutter in my mind is gone and I have the mental freedom to focus.

Set your alarm if you have to because it is important that you make time to do this even if it does mean you have to wake up half an hour earlier than usual.

  • Make Time For Yourself:

Every week I recommend you make one hour for a lifestyle date with yourself – do something you really love and that makes you happy. Reconnect with the child inside yourself: go to the movies and eat popcorn, take a walk and splash in puddles – it doesn’t matter what you do but it mustn’t feel like effort – it’s playtime for your inner self. I love to go off for a bush walk and just think. It’s the time when I reconnect with myself and that is sacred to me.

  • Reach Out To Your Support Network:

If you’re struggling or feeling overwhelmed, remember to reach out to the people around you. Make time to spend with your kids, go for dinner with your partner, drinks with your friends or lunch with your mom but don’t sit indoors feeling a failure. When you reconnect with your support network, you are reminded of what is so great about you – and when you can love yourself you can think more clearly.

Are you in your flow towards business success right now? What do you do to stay in or recover your flow? Are you having lifestyle dates with yourself? I’s love to hear your thoughts.

3 Ways to Regenerate Your Business This Year

Just like plants or trees, businesses (and humans) need periods of rest before they can spring forward again. This may well be what you’ve been doing over the holiday season. So in this post I’m exploring how you can regenerate your business.

Your business is like a tree

Your Business Is A Tree
It needs roots to anchor itself, a solid trunk for strength, the branches are the different wings of your business, the leaves are your activities and the fruit of the tree are your rewards.  And if you’re a competent gardener, then you’ll need to prune.  Why do you prune?  Because a gardener knows that in order to stimulate growth, there first needs to be cuts.

Tip 1 – Pruning Is Powerful
Yes, get those metaphorical scissors out (if you’re really feeling bold – the chainsaw!) and get pruning.  Don’t be timid here – hack, chop and be brave!  Get rid of the deadwood.  Sometimes this means cutting off twigs that are actually still alive.  It’s tough but true.  Use this as an opportunity to let things go.  What is not working in your business?  What old assumptions no longer serve you?  Are you still harbouring old ways of thinking?  Are there staff members you need to let go?  Are there areas in your business that no longer energetically feel right?

What do you need to cut away?

Tip 2 – Recharge Your Batteries
Now the deadwood has gone, what do you do next?  You’re staring at a pruned back business but you’re still wondering what to do in order to make it grow.  My suggestion is do nothing.  Yes, that’s right.  You don’t have to do a thing.  Do you stare at a plant and will it grow?  No, you feed it a little water, you place it in the sun, and if the plant is lucky, you feed it some fertiliser.  You nourish it.  This is what you do next.  You take some time out to nourish yourself.  Remember, my philosophy is that business guidance comes from within so when you are feeling nourished and full, then the externals of your business will also grow.

It’s time to go on that spa day you promised yourself.  Take that yoga retreat.  Go on a golfing holiday.  Take a trip by the seaside.  Go for a bushwalk.  A mountain hike.  Do something that will nourish you.  Feel the sun on your face, swim in saltwater, breathe in the scents of the wood or the rainforest.  Feel connected to nature.

Inject Life back in.

Tip 3 -  Sharpen The Saw
What I love most about pruning is watching the fresh, new buds of regrowth appear.  It always makes me smile.  There’s something almost magical about it.  You think you’ve killed your plant because it looked so bare and forlorn, but suddenly one day a sprig of green appears, and then another and another, and before you know it, the plant has exploded into life. What do you do now?  There’s regrowth all over the shop!  You need to train it to grow in the direction you want, because if you don’t the regrowth has no clear direction.  So you stick a pole next to your plant and gently guide the direction of the new growth.  You do not force it, you simply guide and allow the growth to follow your direction.  With your help, the plant can grow to new heights.

If you’ve decided on a new direction, what training do you need to take you to that next level?  Is there a course you need to take?  A mentor you know you just have to study with?  Is there a product you have to invest in?  Do not think you need to grow your business all alone.  Starting afresh is a bold move and there are tonnes of people out there who have trodden the path you now wish to take.  Follow their gentle guidance to take you to new business heights.

Summary
So, there’s my 3 top tips for Is there any pruning you need to do this week?  What do you need to cut away?  Perhaps you have already pruned, is now the time to take your rest and recharge for the next phase?  Or maybe there’s a course you need to undertake.  Whatever you choose, remember now is the perfect time for regeneration.
